After St Birinus converted the West Saxons' Cynegils King following their meeting near Blewbury, St Edburg's Church as a minster was founded in the 7th century in Bicester.

    Bicester King's End manorial lord, John Coker formed a 'Protection of Property Association against Jacobins and Levellers' as an anti-Painite loyalist band providing militia and volunteer drafts for the army following the outbreak of the French Revolutionary from 1793. The Railway of Great Western sought to shorten its Birmingham (Snow Hill) from London (Paddington) route, and to complete a fast route between the two cities, in 1910 opened the Bicester cut-off line through the north of the town and a station named Bicester North on Buckingham Road, which on 1 July 1910 was opened.
